Summary of 2013

Its coming to the end of 2013 and I think its nice to do a bit of a summary of what happened to me and my music this year. As much for myself as to show everyone out there in internet world.

In summary I’ve had 17 performances, given 2 talks, written 8 pieces and the music to one film. Not too bad a year at all.

January

I was asked to give a talk on Will We See Light? my brass quintet in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. A transcript of which can be read here.

February

Emma Lloyd played Ulation at Sound Proof in The Forrest.

Premier of Sanshen for drum kit and live electronics was premiered by Glynn Forrest and Edit-Point.

for Matt Mattera was played by Red Note during Noisy Nights.

March

Edit-Point was set up as a real company with myself, Timothy Cooper and Nicholas Virgo as directors.

April

Premier of Well, Well, Well by Red Note during Noisy Nights. At the time of writing this is my most listened to track on Sound Cloud with 906 plays!

Ulation was performed again by Emma Lloyd but this time in Sonorities Festival in Belfast.

Premier of Paldookotous by Concorde in Dublin.

Vociferous Palpitation was also featured in Sonorities Festival in Belfast.

May

Attention was premiered in New York by Diagenesis Duo.

June

Attention was played again in New York by Diagenesis Duo.

I attended the Edinburgh International Film Festival composers lab.

September

Showing of Elements my first audio installation in R-Space Gallery.

Premier of Postcard from Esmond Street.

Ulation played again by Emma but this time in Glasgow.

Vociferous Palpitation was featured in the Culture Night activities in the CMC.

October

Gave a talk in R-Space Gallery about my music and installation. You can read the transcript here.

Quartet No. 3 was played by the Gildas Quartet in the Belfast Festival and Sound Festival. Part of Edit-Point’s first tour.

Premier of Modern Models of Luminosity in Dublin’s National Concert Hall.

I attended the Ghent Film Festival.

November

I was commissioned to write music for The Loudest Sound.

Mostly been relaxing and writing music for the film.
