Cacoxen (2012) – piano trio

Cacoxen explores a note against a detuned version of itself before breaking into a pounding rhythmic almost ragtime like section. This set up a duality between the calmer material and the driving force of the second half.

The germ that became Cacoxen was originally Bucephalus started at the Scottish Music Centre’s inaugural Composer Marathon and performed by Daniel’s Beard.

Performances

Premiered by the Gap Static piano trio, 18th July 2012, Kevin Barry Room, Dublin
